One thing I have learnt through my years of martial arts training, is that consistency is key - regardless of talent. In fact consistency will trump talent every time. The people that turn up week in, week out are the ones that make progress.
The ones that show up once a week do OK. The ones that show up 2 or 3 times a week do much better…& the people that train on a ‘daily’ basis (5-7 days a week) do exponentially better.

Build the habit

When people are adding something new - like training - to their daily regime, I tell them to start small. I tell them to start with 10-15 each day. Build the habit first. It’s much easier to add more time to the habit once it has been established.
I tell them to aim for ‘daily’. If that means the 5 weekdays, so be it. If that means you rest on Sundays, cool - even God had a day off. If you can do every day of the week - knock yourself out. Figure out what works for you, what you believe you can stick to & plan for that.
Lastly, I tell them not to stress if they have to miss a day here & there. Sometimes life happens. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Sometimes you’ll lapse. Some days are easier than others. The important thing is that you don’t stop.
Consistency trumps talent every time.
